AK Associates to install Selective Routing and PSAP equipment for Albany County,
New York.
AK has been selected to bring Albany County into the
New Year with Phase II wireless equipment for their
eleven PSAPs in the County. “It is a larger than
the average project and as in the past we are looking
forward to working with and developing new technologies
to ensure the project is done efficiently and with
the latest networking equipment.” As such AK
will be working with a local fiber provider to transport
voice, data, and IP traffic to all eleven PSAPs, and
two Selective Routers.
AK Associates to install multi PSAP services for Clay
County, Florida
AK has been selected to install and maintain two selective
routers and four PSAP locations within the County. “Every
installation is a little unique in the way telecommunications
are handled, and this is no different. The big thing
that AK does is design the best way for dispatchers
and call takers to utilize the best equipment."
Clay County is unique in that they have some locations
that integrate their key system in with their 9-1-1
equipment. What AK does is bring all the dial tone
functionality back to the selective routers so that
all the PSAPs can directly talk to and transfer capability
within the same (redundant) system.

Liberty County Florida
On Thursday, March 15, 2007 the Liberty County 911
Communications Center in the Liberty County’s
Sheriff’s Office will receive the First Annual
AK Associates Service Award for Providing Outstanding
9-1-1 Service to the Residents, Businesses and Visitors
of Liberty County, Florida.
Liberty County was a unanimous choice of the five-judge
panel. The judges were extremely impressed by
the over-all quality of the 9-1-1 call taking and dispatching
as lead by Supervisor/Dispatcher Major Junior Lolley. His
team is one of the best in the country and Junior is
the very best at what he does. According to AK Associates,
an organization working on cutting edge technology
with counties and states across the Country, Liberty
County 911, which operates in a partnership between
the BOCC 911 Coordinator and the Sheriff’s Department,
excels in the coordination, processing, and implementation
of the state of the art 911 emergency call answering
system.
Elaine Kraus, President of AK Associates explained
at the 9-1-1 Coordinator Conference, in Bradford County
Florida, that the initial challenge her team faced
in engineering the new 9-1-1 system for Liberty County
seemed very difficult. She noted that Liberty
County 9-1-1 Coordinator, Mr. Steven Ford had a requirement
that AK had never been asked to consider prior to Liberty
County. The new system had to be designed to
accommodate Major Jr. Lolley’s sight disability. Ms.
Kraus explained to the group that her engineering team
only performed the routine staff training and that
Major Lolley made the extra effort to self-train with
minimal input and assistance from AK Associates engineers
on the specialized equipment engineered by AK.
